Medieval Buddhist of the Day

I work on the patrons of Buddhist images in fifth and sixth century China. I unearth hundreds of small stories through my work. Bringing them to light is half the fun. Most of the people I learn about are too ordinary to be found in the histories. But not less worthy of our attention for that.

This blog (founded September 5, 2023) will recap the 52 Medieval Buddhists of the Day I posted in the form of Twitter threads starting in May 2019, and then proceed with more from my current research. I needed a place they could live rather than depending on one microblogging service or another, so it seems like returning to regular old blogs is the best solution.
